There is good news for all the Linux lovers and Linux users, that new software is launched for Linux security. The new software is called as maldet (read it as mal-det) or it is also called as Linux Malware Detect (LMD). This new Linux malware scanner is launched by R-FX Networks
To install maldet - new malware scanner
, you will have to download it from R-FX networks and then extract the files.
Below steps will give commands that are required to download and install maldet:Command 1: Go to the desired directory on your machine
cd /usr/local/src/Command 2: Download the maldet or LMD
wget http://www.rfxn.com/downloads/maldetect-current.tar.gz Command 3: Extract the package
tar xfz maldetect-current.tar.gz Command 4: Go to the newly extracted maldet directory
cd maldetect-* Command 5: Install the maldet
The commands given above should be run one after another in given sequence
After installation, the LMD configuration file will be located at /usr/local/maldetect/conf.maldet
This configuration file is fully commented by developers of this package and therefore making changes in it will be really easy for you.
Once installed is done and upon doing changes in the configuration file (which is optional), LMD is ready to use for scanning malware on your Linux machine.
