After Downloading and Installing Ubuntu 11.10, the first thing that everyone will need is an Internet connection. Doing this is very simple in Linux than in Windows.
Neither software nor typing code in the command prompt is required to do this. Follow the simple steps given below:
Step 1 : First, insert the modem that you have (in this case MTS Mblaze) to your computer. It will take less than a minute to detect your modem device.
Step 2 : Then go to the Network icon which is at the top right side (in the Menu Bar) of your screen and there select "New Mobile BroadBand (CDMA) Connection".. [See screenshot below]
Step 3 : Now, a window must appear for the setup for the new Mobile BroadBand connection. Click "Continue" . [See Picture Below]
Step 4 : Choose the country name of your Service Provider. If you don't know which country to select, just select the Country in which you live. Hit Enter. [See Picture Below]
Step 5 : Now select the name of the service provider. If you use don't see your Service Provider's name there, select the option "I can't see my Service Provider's name..." and type in your Service Provider's name in the text-box given. Click "Continue". [See Picture Below]
Step 6 : Now click "Continue" for the next two steps and finish the setup process. Go to the Network icon at the top of your page and select "Edit Connections". In the window that pops-up, under the "Mobile Broadband" tab, double click "MTS MBlaze Connection". [See Pocture Below]
Step 7 : In the window that appears, check the box that says "Connect Automatically". This ensures that your computer will be connected to the Internet once the system detects the modem after inserting it in your computer. Now under the "Mobile Broadband" tab, type in the User-name and the Password.
The User-name is firstname.lastname@example.org
The password is MTS
. Make sure that the option "Available to all users" is checked. Click "Save". [See picture below]
Now unplug the modem and re-insert it. Once again go to the Internet icon and select "Enable Mobile Broadband". Wait for a few minutes for the connection to be established. It must be connected automatically. If not, click "MTS MBlaze Connection (CDMA)" and the connection will be established soon.
