My name is Brandon Lucas; I'll be updating my Profile here in a few moments; however, I've decided to at least fill out this simple Introduction post. . .
Alright, following the aforementioned template:
1) My real name: Brandon Lucas
2) My Location: Georgia, United States of America
3) My Profession: Unemployed
4) My Purpose to join the Technical Discussion forum: N/A
5) How did you reach us? (Google? my signature on other forum? reading some article?): Google searching for Application development tools
. . . now, to be a bit more specific: I'm a self-taught programmer for the most part. I've taken a Website Design and Java Programming class at the High School language; however, ended up being a teacher-assistant since I was already experienced in Java and (D)HTML. I also took a Jython/Python Programming introductory course at the college level; and, once again, found myself helping the students more than learning anything useful.
. . . after several failed attempts at setting up an Apache server on my computer; I managed to set up the defaulted IIS server on my Windows-run machine. With the IIS server, I began experimenting with PHP and MySQL (having prior knowledge of SQL from my Java class). My first website creation was a News RSS feed, a few login access features, and simple randomization scripts. Afterwards, my next task was to work with the GD-Image library and develop a few Signature developer scripts for a specific MMORPG that I play. In under, I had accomplished my younger-programming dream (it was thought impossible for me to make a Signature developer script; I couldn't even fathom the beginning processes to attempt it). I really haven't done much with PHP else than what's already mentioned.
Since then, I've moved back into actual programs versus web-developments. Now, I'm working with . NET Visual Basic for Windows Application development; but, I've run into a few snags and this is why I'm here now. My program is technically finished; however, it flickers; so I feel that perhaps it may be in my best interest to use another programming language, and perchance this site can lead me to what language(s) would be beneficial for me to take to learning.
Anyways, that's essentially my background as far as programming goes. Nice to meet you all.
