How to set up parental controls in Windows Vista.
• You must have two accounts set up. One is the administrator account (Which should be the only admin account and should have a password) and the account you want to set up the parental controls on.
• This does not work in Windows XP or any earlier versions of windows. Only Windows Vista (Not sure about Windows 7, which is still in beta stages).
1. Login to the Administrator account on your computer.
2. Go to Start > Control Panel.
3. Find “User Accounts and Family Safety” and click on that.
4. Find “Parental Controls” and click on that.
5. Find the account you want to set up the controls for and click on that.
6. Find where it says “On, enforce current settings” and click on that
7. Now you can click on each of the links below that. I’ll explain each of them below.
• Web Restrictions: This controls what kind of sites this user can go on. Each setting has different levels of security. High blocks the most or you can customize it to your likings.
• Time Limits: This limits the times of the day this user can use the computer. You can change it day by day so weekdays are different then weekends etc…
• Games: This blocks the ratings of the games this user can play. You can set it to which ratings this user can play. Or you can allow or block certain games.
• Allow and Block Specific Programs: This is for setting which programs this user can use, and block certain things that this use can’t use for example you may not want them to use the internet, or have access to the control panel.
Apart from that, you can also view the top 10 websites they visit, things they downloaded, recent IMs.
