the SQL is the one that is used to store information in a database either in records or tables. i suggest you to install microsoft SQL server 2005. this suits your window. i don't think that the latest version will be supported by your window. as the thing is windows vista seems to be very slow.

SQL Server 2005 is the latest version and it also supports Windows Vista OS Version.

What do you need - an SQL server or analyser? From reading your post it seems you may want an analyser , the likes of Total SQL analyser might suit your needs. If I was you I would do a google search for "SQL analyser" and have a look at the results..... there seems to be quite a bit of choice out there and the one you need will obviously depend on you and your database

SQL Server 2005 express runs on Windows Vista.  Instead of Enterprise Manager and Query ANalyser, you can use a tool called SQL Server Management Sudio which allows you to do exactly the same things as you could in Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer (and probably more) .

Sorry, I can't help you with DBArtisian, dont know what that is.  If SQL Server 2000 could be integrated into it then I'm sure SQL Server 2005 can.
