From another topic on here, I was thinking - theres plenty of times that Ive been on a website and really hated the design- whether its too complex or just plain crap! Here are a couple of my pet hates, what are yours?
1) Lots of popups
2) Use of the bgsound tag, especially with loop="infinite" - grrr!
3) Having to jump through hoops to achieve something that should be really simple
4) Having to subscribe to download something
5) Marque

I can't stand when a page is slowly loading ads before it ever loads any of the page. I know ads are necessary a lot of the time, but when it slows the whole page down it ruins it for me.

It bugs me if I get to a page and I hear the page before I see it, I don't want to hear loud music, even if I like the song!

1) Heavily used graphics which takes time to load.
2) Ads, Ads and Ads everywhere.
3) After each click you see a new popup
4) The text which is hard to read
These are few points that make e ate any website as hated personally.

lol - In complete agreement there! Linux, being my main OS, doesn't really like 2 programs trying to access the soundcard (with Alsa) - I know I can do something about it, but never bothered. If I am listening to some music etc and the webbrowser wants to play music too at the same time, then the browser will cease to work - which makes sites with sound even more annoying!

1) Ads,Ads,Ads. I understand they want/ned to make money, but atleast make your site pleasing.
2)Pop-Ups. Whenever I click on something theres a pop-ups. I hate it, so annoying always exiting out of them.
Another thing, its not realy about the site, but another thing I don't like is rude members.

Yes are you talking about forum based sites??
I think there are few sites where we can post comments on the site or else communicate to each other/ with members of the site, but generally we call them as forum, social communities.

All kinds of sounds and advertisements. Well not all advertisements, but if there are more of them than actual content, it's pretty annoying. And I also really hate it when I see a forum that has the default skin. Like default vbulletin one. It's not that hard to come up with new icons and change the colors a little bit!

The default skins are sometimes boring but not annoying.
One other thing that many might hate is a website which has lot of buttons and on each page you have to click somewhere link or button to see next content.

I just don't like visiting websites that loads very slow and provides too many advertisement on every corner of their templates. I will immediately close them upon visit and never bother to check them again.

Bad Design: Loading Javascript before anything else, unoptimised site, unoptimised images, popups, sound, those damn people who talk on the website, use of women walking onto your screen to try and sell a product from the site. Live sales operatives poping up when I'm browsing a site. Designers/ owners who don't track demographics and use the information to make their sites better........ No wonder only 10% of online businesses succeed

I would say that content in any web designing site matter a lot and people judge sites by the quality of content. Logo design of your company is also matter a lot people spend a lot of time in making a logo design. So, these two things which I guess matter a lot in web designing sites.

For me a bad web site is that when the loading of ads make the page loading process a slow one. I understand the necessity of ads but it is very irritating.

1. web pages load slowly. Uh!
