SQL Server Plays an important role in any of the applications. It is like an back bone or Heart of the application. if the human body doesn't have the back bone, we can assume how he can perform or work. Same thing with the SQL Server if the application does not have any data than there is no meaning of the application. Application is like a structure and Database is the soul of that structure to perform the transactions.

When you say SQL server it makes me think of Microsoft's SQL server... its not just limited to that application, its databases as a whole not just one product (although I didn't realise until now that this was first released in 1989!)

Where would we be without databases hey?

Quite a few years ago I was,  with a web company, and we decided to install a forum. The problem was that, at the time, our ISP didn;t supply databases - so we used a forum which allowed data to be stored in files. It was a nightmare when the forum got busy! - very slow access times, sometimes corrupted data and also permission issues on the files themselves (which were scattered around.)

SQL is so versatile though, thank goodness it's around.  I guess one of these days, I'll learn how to use it. LOL

If you do any programming then it is a godsend for data storage, just us a one line SQL statement rather than having to write file handling algorithms and such like
