XML has a number of disadvantages, with other newer technology should XML be considered obsolete now a days?

1-XML requires a processing application.
2-browser support is limited
and many more disadvantages............

Xml is still working, still have its power in market, vxml is used today with java for developing ivr applications.

of course not, still it used for number of applications. Xml is still growing, when you used vxml then you realize it. Vxml is still use to developed IVR applications.
