I am curious, has anyone used Photoshop 5?
Normally I don't feel the need to upgrade, but the intelligent fill feature seems to be absolutely incredible.
I wonder if the videos I've seen make it appear more effective than it really is though.

Normally I would agree, and I am not going to buy CS5, but this video really is amazing imo.

They remove the whole tree, pick up the litter off the grass, and make the whole thing look flawless. In just a few minutes too...pretty cool.

Sounds like Photoshop CS5 is much more advanced than the earlier versions.

I'm steering Photoshop CS2 around. Because I don't use it much, I don't really want to fork out the money for the upgrade, but I do like the Elements series, because they're straightforward and easy to work with.

I have been using Photoshop CS2 but I just upgraded to CS5. The features available in CS5 are nothing short of awesome - of course that also means that you have to spend more time to learn how to use them properly. CS5 is not hype, it is extremely powerfull, if you have the time to learn how to use it.

I had a look at CS5's blurb on Wikipedia the other day. Shame my tax return is already funding my horribly expensive Uni books otherwise I might have considered nabbing an academic priced version of CS5. Sigh.

What is the price? Is this low compared to normal version of Photoshop?

What is the price? Is this low compared to normal version of Photoshop? Oh, yeah. For example, being a Uni student, I am entitled to "Student & Teacher" pricing. For the Adobe CS5 Master Collection, this is AUD $473. (Prices at random from handy PC magazine published this month). The full suite without any discounts is $3,557 - so it's over $3,000 cheaper.

If you are talking about the Master Collection the price really isn't that bad, in fact it's a deal. It comes with:
Photoshop CS5 Extended Illustrator CS5 InDesign CS5 Acrobat 9 Pro Flash Catalyst CS5 Flash Professional CS5 Flash Builder 4 Standard Dreamweaver CS5 Fireworks CS5 Contribute CS5 Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 After Effects CS5 Soundbooth CS5 Adobe OnLocation CS5 Encore CS5 Bridge CS5 Device Central CS5 Dynamic Link Integrates with CS Live online services*
That's a lot of software! If you buy Photoshop CS5 Extended by itself - that's expensive - $999 for one piece of software.

hi i am abbi thomas
I just got Adobe Photoshop 5. 0, and I'm not sure how to work it. . . I got it all installed and everything, but I keep getting confused. I want to know how to do all of the cool stuff to pictures. The main thing I want to do is like, make a picture black and white, but have a little bit of color in it still. Like some people turn their pictures black and white, but keep their eye color, or shirt color, or something like that. But yea if anyone could explain anything they know about it to me, it would be greatly appreciated. But in a way thats understandable lol. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

What you want to do is actually very easy. First, select the area you want to keep in color using the Lasso tool or the Magic Wand. Once that is done select 'Select>Inverse' from the menu. This will invert your selection so that everything you want desaturated is selected. Now select 'Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation'. This will bring up the Hue/Saturation dialog. Click and drag the arrow below the saturation bar to the left until you have the level you desire. Then click OK to apply the change and 'Ctrl+D' to remove the selection.

I wish to use this new version of the CS 5 but I haven't yet experienced using the previous version which are the version 3 and 4 but I guess it is still possible to skip and go directly to the latest version.

Photoshop CS3 . . I think this is the latest version of Adobe product. I install it and use it to my editing graphics. For me it's more comfort and softness compared to the previous one. One thing I want to emphasize is its appearance. It looks very elegant and professional. it may take a lot of memory to run . . But it depends on the user to use it.
