Click-to-call code for toll free phone numbers
June 16, 2010, 12:52:22 AM
Anyone can provide a code for a click-to-call feature that I can embed on my webpage? I will be using my toll free phone numbers for taking visitors calls.

If your visitors are browsing on a mobile phone, then the correct URL format to use is:
wtai://wp/mc;+(CC)xxxxxxxx
Where (CC) is the country code (which must be in international format with the plus out the front, e.g. for the UK, +44 instead of (44)) and xxxxxxxx is the phone number.
For example, to dial 555-1234 in San Diego, California, you'd put wtai://wp/mc;+16195551234.
Any mobile should understand that as an instruction to place a call and will prompt the user with
Call xxxx-xxxx?
before they agree to it.
Otherwise, you could be looking at using Skype and the skype:// protocol, but you and your users would need to have it installed or they won't be able to call you.

If not wrong then Skype provides such APIs that we can integrate it into our applications. Will need to do some search on it.

Skype does have its own APIs - they should be
here
, as far as I'm aware.
