do you strive for w3c compliance? I have tried to keep up to this standard but haven't really done a great job. I plan to keep to this in the next coming month but it becomes complicated with large designs.

Naa, too much effort. When I have made a website (which I find boring at the best of times) to then change it all to meet W3C would finish me off If they seriously wanted people to stick to the standard then they should make it easier and more automated to do, and cut out all the bollocks.

To make your site W3C compliant need hard work and study.
I have worked on many sites to make then 100% XHTML and CSS compliant, and I am good at it. Also glad to mention this forum was made XHTML validate with its previous themes (design), right now its not 100% valid, so I will need to take out some time and make it XHTML and CSS valid because I love site those are W3C compliant

Wow, congrats on making the theme compliant! I agree though that making a forum, indeed any CMS software, validate is very difficult! I've since given up on trying, because it took my focus away from the quality of the content.

Which is exactly why it should be made simpler and more automated.

Using automated tool for correcting errors in XHTML, may spoil the layout of the page, thats why it should be avoided.
What do you think?

CMS software can be a real pain, but I try to make everyone of my sites valid XHTML and CSS. Having a valid site can make it easier to make your site more consistent in different browsers and it keeps the bots happy (GoogleBot dislikes invalid pages).

I always make my websites w3c compliant, I'm not really sure why, but it just makes my website more professional and functional. I honestly think all webmasters should do it, and not to use tables in the source either. Divs and XHTML are the way to go.

Where possible I always use compliance from W3 as a benchmark for any page I code. If for some reason something doesn't comply I will usually hack away at it (for days sometimes) until it does.
