Photoshop is definitely the way to go if you are serious. Personally, I am not that great at image editing and hence rarely do it except for the occasional crop and resize.

I have an old version of Photoshop but I really need to learn how to use it (LOL). For most editing, I use Paint or Gimp.

I am not at good at photoshop, therefore photoshop is not the option for me. I am not a designer and therefore my work with editing images is really very limited. Sometimes I use paint brush, MS Image editor, OR even snagit image studio works well for me.

For simple editing (just to add text, rotate, crop) paint from ms windows is my choice, but if it's for complex editing then photoshop (blend picture, effect, manipulation) and corel is my favourite.

Between Photoshop (CS3) and Paint, I can usually do what I need to. I've never tried GIMP but I hear people like it and it's cheaper than Photoshop, right?

Photoshop CS5 Extended is what I use for images - before that Photoshop CS2. I guess you could say Adobe has it's hooks in me.

I've never used Paint. I've spent almost all of my PC graphics life with Photoshop. Although I did use Painter way back when, that was a really cool program as well.

For years, I've been using an old version Paint Shop Pro for any heavy duty work requiring layers. Because it is so old, it has trouble working with some newer files, like PSDs created in newer versions of Photoshop or some transparent PNGs. When it comes to working with those, I use GIMP. For very basic editing like cropping or batch jobs like thumbnail creation, I use XnView.
Before I upload any PNGs, I also run them through PNGGauntlet to optimize their filesize. It can be really useful in saving some space and bandwidth.

I think Photoshop is best for editing images. It is more useful for designing templates. Its simple to operate and have many more options to the designers

There are plenty of options for editing images such as GIMP, Paint.NET, FastStone Image Viewer, XnView and Photoscape etc, but I use Adobe Photoshop which is one of the best and easy software’s for this purpose.

I think that Photoshop is the best. You can use it for naming image, changing the size of the image, cropping an image, making image darker or lighter, manipulating an image, adding text to images, etc. You can make all this easily using this software and if you will have problems you can find a lot of tutorials in Google that will help you.

Photoshop is a software that needs to be learned while paint and other picture editing tools are very user-friendly and easy to understand. Very good choice of picture editors

I use manual settings as well and shoot in RAW format and edit in Adobe Lightroom. If you haven't checked into post processing very much, I would suggest going to Adobe's website and downloading a free 30 day trial of one or more of their programs. Unless if you already use one of those programs, then disregard this post. web design
