Have you ever created a Student Management Project . I have once created it. The program had options to store reviews about the student, maintain academic records, maintain class test marks, also options for black marks etc..
Is that a good project? It was my first 'big' project.
Now, that project has gone because once I had to reinstall my OS and all my files got deleted..That was a sad thing.
Now, I'm working on it again.

How many tables does your database take for something of that magnitude?

Check out The First Days of School by Harry Wong and Cooperative Learning by Spencer Kagan. It will give you a lot of valuable information.
Basically, the student is off task because he is not being actively engaged. Students who aren't actively engaged, will do other things that actively engage them.

I am a post-graduate student from Warwick University and currently working on my final dissertation about Business value of Project risk management. Is there anyone would like to participate in my questionnaire? I would be quite appreciated if you could do me this favor.

Project management courses/degrees will not help you in real time if you do not have initial experience. Even it will be tough to get a job directly into project management.
Better would be to go for MBA along with some part time jobs.
All the best.
