I personally can't wait for HTML5 and CSS3 to hit the shelves. Though it will probably be 2-5 years before most browsers start to support it, I'm sure i'll be designing with it right away

I am would love to know how much different this new versions are from the old versions. any quick article or link for there sources?

I wasn't aware they were actually being developed. I heard about HTML5 about two-three years ago but since it hasn't come out yet I thought it was just rumors. This is the first time, actually, that I'm hearing about css3.
Can't say I'm excited about it, though. Seems like more catching up to do, which I don't really have the time for.

No doubt the browsers will all implement slightly different variations to these new protocols to make it extra difficult to use them

I'd only be excited for this if new browsers would start to implement HTML5 and ONLY HTML5. In any other case, all "web designers" will be able to write in HTML in whatever way they want.
