Using pen tool in Photoshop
July 23, 2009, 11:46:50 PM
I am really having a hard time in handling the pen tool feature found in Photoshop.
I am sure you guys too should have had the same problem during the initial stages.
Plz. share your opinion on how to use pen tool effectively and first of all how to quickly learn using it.
Really appreciate your inputs.

Are there no tips, or does practice make perfect?

Well if I'm thinking of the right thing, you just need a steady hand, some time and patients

You don't even need a steady hand. The pen tool is for drawing paths. Every time you click with it, you get an anchor, so the idea is that you click around the border of something to place a bunch of anchors. Then, you bend the path you've created to give you a perfect fit. I think the other user was thinking about the Lasso tool, which is commonly misused for large selection. The pen tool is the way trained experts do it. Once you have the path, you can convert it to a selection, and then make minor edits with the lasso tool.
