You might have come across the term firewall several times but have you ever wondered what exactly is a firewall and how it works? Well you may learn something about it in this article.

Firewall is obviously the most trusted and important component in today's world that is used by many huge companies and individuals to save their system from various hacking and cracking attacks. The reason why they use firewall is that it can stand as a mediator between various authorized and unauthorized sites (websites). So, it is easy for it to recognize which are the sites that are prone to hacking and various other attacks.

However, if you use any other software that are in your system, they may not have a wide knowledge about security and other such things so that they may not be much effective but only to 15 or 20 computer systems that are locally connected with it. But, today's world is different. Life has become impossible without internet and hacking is also increased all over the internet. So, its the best decision to use firewall to have your system hacking free.

A firewall stands as an obstacle that can withstand various attacks in between the WAN and the LAN. In fact, it filters all the information either be it websites or files that are transferred from the WAN (Wide Area Network) to your local system. If it finds something untrustworthy or doubt-able, it blocks it for a moment. However, if you want it to unblock it, you can do it. You can also manually disable firewall in your system and can enable it whenever you want it provided that you have implemented firewall for your system.

Firewall can be implemented either in the hardware or in the software depending upon the users wish.

Firewall may be a router or a system or even a separate component that may be located anywhere between the internet and your computer system. It will be more effective if you use it between the internet and Local Area Network connection.

So, a computer without a firewall protection is very prone to many dangers and so, not only to use firewall but to know about how it works is a good thing to be done. Hope this basic information about firewall has helped you. Looking forward to post some more additional details soon.
